The fashion world and theater are finally merging.
The cast of Tanghalang Pilipino’s D’EMPEROR revealed, as well as the top fashion designers and couturiers who will be lending their artisanal skills in crafting the costumes to the show.
In this, I couldn’t help but recall my chance encounter with Grace Coddington, creative director of Vogue, at the lobby of the Lincoln Center before watching War Horse last May. Of course I had my photo taken with her, then we got to chatting. She asked if I was a fashion student. I said no, I’m a theater student (though not really. haha). And then she said, well, fashion, theater, they’re very intertwined.
True enough her research for the show would months later translate into a “War Horse-themed” fashion spread for this month’s issue of Vogue - in anticipation of the movie. Amazing right!
D’Emperor will star Jett Pangan as The Emperor and opens in January 2012. Don’t miss it!
